Uncle Sam's Frame-Up of Jose Padilla Continues

In a post entitled "No Evidence, No Problem" at the blog Left i on the News, Comrade Eli Stephens has written instructively about the bizarre case of Jose Padilla, the citizen kidnapped by Uncle Sam and held without charge for 5 years in a Concentration Camp as a "military combatant," a confected rhetorical device used by Uncle Sam's WarOn Terrorists to justify ignoring the constitution.

Surely one can easily recall how Padilla was kidnapped on the basis of a claim by John Ashcroft (see video below) that he planned to use a "dirty bomb"?

Well, his silly claim is no longer part of the case - it was, however, necessary for the propaganda campaign needed to establish a precedent. In other words, Padilla's another victim of Vanilla Justice.

Documentary film 'We' visualizes the 'Physics of Power'

Arundhati Roy's stirring and beautiful talk, entitled "Come September" and delivered before the Lanan Foundation in September 2002, has gained a reputation as one of the best political speeches delivered in the 21st century.

Using Roy's moving address as a point of departure, the online documentary "We" takes the form of a continuous music video in which the creator marshals a stunning array of archival footage to illustrate visually the themes and ideas Roy captures with the written and spoken word.

George Carlin on the Ruling Class & the 'American Dream'

In this short (4+ minutes) clip, George Carlin encapsulates, with humor and precision, the all-out war that the ruling class here on Uncle Sam's plantation has waged against the masses of people. Carlin rightly points out that until those getting screwed over worst ignore the ruling class's propaganda and lies, take stock of the situation, and begin fighting back, the war - and the one sided casualty totals that result (poverty, bankruptcy, foreclosure, unemployment, etc.) - will not diminish.
"The owners of this country don't care about about you at all... at all... at all! And nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care.

"That's what the owners count on - the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white, and blue dick that's being jammed up their asshole ever day.

"That's because owners of this country know the truth: it's called the 'American Dream' because you have to be asleep to believe it."

Release POCC Minister of Defense Aaron Patterson Today!

Earlier today, Uncle Sam held a sentencing hearing for Political Prisoner Aaron Patterson in Chicago.

Stephanie Joy Tisdale summarizes the trumped-up case against Patterson in The Liberator:
Aaron Patterson’s journey with the political structure of Chicago began in April 1986, when an elderly couple was stabbed to death and he was arrested as a possible suspect... Patterson was tortured during his “interrogation”—including severe beatings and suffocation... [He] etched into a bench while in police custody: “Aaron 4/30 I lie about murders. Police threaten me with violence. Slapped and suffocated me with plastic. No lawyer or dad. No phone. Signed false statement to murders.” (Ironically, the message would remain in the bench close to 20 years later and would help to further prove that Patterson was, in fact, tortured)....

“Chicago is the torture capital,” says Chairman Fred Hampton, Jr. “Chicago’s Area 2 Violent Crimes Unit is called the ‘House of Screams’ due to the torture of prisoners including everything from electric shock on sexual organs to being hand-cuffed to radiators and doused with water.” The chief coordinator of Area 2 was Lt. Jon Burge “who’s name came to stand for police brutality” (Chicago Tribune). Burge was a military policeman during the Vietnam War and later joined the Chicago Police force. He was fired in February 1993 after being implicated for the torture of Andrew Wilson in 1982. Subsequently, more than 100 victims came forward with allegations of torture by Burge or his subordinates: Aaron Patterson was one of them. Throughout the 1970’s and 80’s Jon Burge, fresh out of Vietnam, extorted “confessions” from detainees using tactics like suffocation with typewriter covers, the use of cattle prods, electric shocks, beatings and "Russian Roulette..." In 1990, after years of complaints and public pressure, a formal investigation of Burge and his detectives finally took place and he was let go. To date, Jon Burge resides in Florida where he receives a pension and benefits.
A pension & benefits for a sadistic torturer? Now that's Vanilla Justice! Tisdale continues:
As the case against Burge defined itself, Cook County State's Atty. Richard Devine attempted to bribe Patterson and others—offering to reduce their sentences if they admitted guilt and dropped their claims against Burge. Patterson refused, stating in a Chicago Tribune interview: “Much as I'd like to get out of here, I'm going to stay until we get this thing right. I'm pretty much certain they know now I didn't do it, but they're trying to wiggle their way out of it... But I'm not so frantic that I just want to get out. If you're innocent, you've got to make your stand..."

Aaron Patterson would remain on death row until January 2003, when Illinois Gov. George Ryan pardoned him and three other death row inmates on the grounds that their confessions were a result of police torture... Upon release, Patterson became a central figure in the campaign to expose Burge and the impropriety of the Chicago political structure....

Patterson continued to advocate on behalf of tortured prisoners and victims of the Chicago political structure, many of whom remained on death row. He would go on to file a civil suit (which is still pending) and to run for office, while also working as the Minister of Defense for the POCC. “Aaron ran for State Representative in the 2nd District and on his platform he used the African Anti-Terrorism Bill,” says Chairman Fred. And that is when things took a turn for the worse..."

“Operation Revolving Door” was launched that same day by Joe Gorman, Jr... which would result in the arrest of Aaron Patterson in August 2004. The charge: attempt to purchase weapons and narcotics from an undercover informant... Since then, Aaron Patterson has been incarcerated based on the testimony of police informant Mario Fox, who was himself incarcerated for cocaine possession and subsequently released from jail in order to work as an informant.

Aaron Patterson’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 20th, 2007. It is important to remember that Aaron Patterson was pardoned in 2003 and released from jail only to be rearrested (on hearsay) less than two years later... As with Mumia Abu-Jamal and so many unjustly incarcerated individuals, Aaron Patterson needs and requires our support, our energy and our commitment to freedom for all.

Send love to Aaron Patterson:

Comrade Galloway Suspended for Opposing Genocide in Iraq

Watch Comrade George Galloway's statement and response to questions concerning his 18-day suspension from Britain's Parliament.

The decision undertaken by the pro-war body to punish its most outspoken critic illuminates the Parliament's reliance upon hypocrisy and denial to whitewash its criminality.

The Case of Victor Toro:
Uncle Sam picks up where Pinochet left Off

While hardly surprising, the news that on 6 July child pornographers working in Uncle Sam's Department of Homeland Security had torn long-time community organizer Victor Toro from his seat on a passenger train and arrested him on trumped-up 'immigration' charges serves as a depressing reminder of the direction in which the struggle for immigrant rights has moved.

In his piece on Toro in the New York Times, Anthony Ramirez summarizes his political 'odyssey' of nearly 40 years.
It began in the 1970s when he was a political prisoner in the jails of Gen. Augusto Pinochet in Chile, veered for a time into Europe and Mexico, then into New York City, where he became known for more than two decades of community and political activism...

When he was a left-wing political activist, General Pinochet’s regime tortured him after the coup that toppled Salvador Allende on Sept. 11, 1973, he said.

Both he and Nieves Ayress, now 56, who later became his wife, have said they had electrodes attached to their genitals in Chilean jails.
As a dutiful New York Times propagandist, Ramirez avoids any mention of Uncle Sam's complicity in the rampant torture carried out during the Pinochet dictatorship. He continues:
In 1976, he fled Chile... For years, Mr. Toro went from country to country, finding himself at last in Mexico.

In 1984, he... crossed the border into the United States at El Paso, settling later in the Bronx....

Mr. Toro and Ms. Ayress... started Vamos a la Peña del Bronx in 1987, a storefront group that provided clothing and food for poor people, help with immigrants’ problems, shelter for battered women and health education for those who were H.I.V. positive.

In 1998, the group won an award and a $50,000 grant from Union Square Awards in Manhattan for community service. “We were looking for groups that were operating on pure passion but who had no economic resources,” said Iris Morales, director of the philanthropy.
Once DHS saw the grave and gathering threat posed by the longtime homeless advocate and AIDS activist, they took action. Bang-up work, fellas!

Last week, Toro posted bail but the charges remain and deportation still looms.

Declared dead by the government of Chile and under attack by Uncle Sam here on the Plantation, the next step for Toro is unclear. Thanks to his work in The Struggle, he has many comrades on whom he can rely. But one mustn't harbor illusions that this support will make a request to Uncle Sam for asylum more likely to be granted. If anything, the opposite may be true. His popularity in the community has grown out of his anti-imperialist politics, and just as the decision to torture Toro in the 1970s ultimately rested with Uncle Sam, so too does the decision to torture him by other means today.

A Modest Proposal for 2008:
MUMIA for PRESIDENT!

We at Savage Justice have followed the 2008 elections with a passing degree of amusement.

Uncle Sam's electoral campaigns chiefly test a man's ability to beg for Corporate Welfare Checks, and it's remarkable to see how low men will go in order to grovel. When it's all over, the winner usually becomes the next ShellGame Despot chosen by Uncle Sam to augment his historical legacy of imperialist pillage and slaughter.

Within such a rigged system, the main task for a revolutionary must be to highlight the contradictions and hypocrisy embedded within it. The degree of success or failure in achieving this objective, and not just the number of votes, serves as the measure of ones effectiveness during a bourgeois campaign.

For many years, millions and millions of people, awake to Uncle Sam's ShellGame Politricks, have sought an alternative to and concrete negation of that system, but had no candidate with an organic connection between themselves and the masses of people. Perhaps because Uncle Sam assassinated so many of the best young leaders. Perhaps for other reasons as well.

A campaign that puts Mumia at its head could reverse that.

Mumia Abu-Jamal makes manifest Uncle Sam's blatant hypocrisy on Human Rights and Press Freedom. His forced captivity calls attention to the plight of the countless Political Prisoners languishing in Uncle Sam's Concentration Camps and Torture Chambers. And his innocence exposes the Vanilla Justice that locked him up in the first place.

Any campaign must call attention to the racist Death Penalty and to the plight of the poor on Uncle Sam's Plantation. Any campaign must call attention to the plight of Black New Orleans, which none of dwarfs has done except except as a PR stunt (right HairDo?).

And of course, any campaign must stand in Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution, along with the Palestinians and the Iraqis dying daily by the dozens thanks to Uncle Sam's unquenchable thirst for bloodshed and plunder.

The entire cadre of tools standing for coronation refuses to reverse any of this now. They will refuse even less in the future.

The Left has a choice to make: Ralph Nader, his coronated successor, Bill Moyers, and the myriad other Left candidates all perform a needed service in mounting a challenge to the two-party system. Do they have the power and charisma to captivate the spirit and imagination of the people that Mumia does?

These other campaigns are no better financially than a yet-conceived Mumia campaign, which has the potential to be self-sustaining thanks to people's already-existing deep connection with him.

Uncle Sam will release Mumia under only one circumstance: the development of a collective popular will that demands it. Could that demand be made any clearer than through such a campaign? Wouldn't a powerful and organized campaign make murdering Mumia more difficult?

I cannot think of a more brazen or concrete way of exposing and articulating Uncle Sam's hypocrisy of thought, word, and deed than by lifting up Mumia Abu-Jamal as a political leader: a new Mandella! A campaign such as this one - with such potential to unify - could arouse the imagination and catalyze a movement that makes his release one act among many that strikes directly into the heart of Vanilla Justice!

MUMIA in 2008!

Solidarity with a Bolivarian Comrade!

The gods have brought to my attention the blog of a comrade whose recent writings on the events in Venezuela warrant a detailed read.

Larry Gambone writes on his Porcupine Blog:
Left wing parties, whether out of opportunism or a sincere desire to reform society and better the working population, ultimately depend upon what happens in the streets. Chavez did not create the movement which put him in power, but rather was created by it. He would like to control it, but that is what social democrats seek to do, nothing unusual or unique there. The task of anarchists and revolutionary socialists is to radicalize this movement, not undermine it, or show sympathy for pro-imperialists and reactionaries. The goal is to make the movement escape from Hugo's hands and sweep away the corporate state in its entirety.

Thugs? Dissidents? Critics? Words have meaning. No one would doubt that Saddam or Pinochet were thugs, with their mass murders, tortures and the millions they skimmed off and hid in numbered bank accounts.
Uncle Sam's bank accounts, to be sure. And just as Uncle Sam bankrolled Pinochet and Saddam (not to mention the Shah) as they massacred their way to power, he's now aiming to do the same in Venezuela with a new generation. With the old generation of lackys embarrassing itself so fully, Uncle Sam has turned his attention to Venezuela's remaining Vanilla campuses. Gambone continues:
The world does not work according to wishes, ideology or theories. It is messy. It would be nice if all the left-wing parties in Venezuela disappeared and were replaced by millions-strong anarcho-syndicalist unions and an anarchist federation with tens of thousands of members. But that does not seem to be in the offing. Class struggle is being reflected through the Chavista Movement (for now) – though not the origin of such.
Amen!

In the face of such a reality, there is no room for equivocation.

Gambone's got a great blog - I'm glad to have discovered it! It's always encouraging to encounter a comrade. It's even more enjoyable when this newfound Solidarity results explicitly from the enemy's hard work!

Document leaked to EI Exposes Zionist Apartheid

Electronic Intifada, an invaluable resource to those who care about the ongoing Zionist genocide of Palestinian Semites, recently acquired a power point presentation leaked from Apartheid Israel's Ministry of 'Defense' that:
Provides detail of the regime of severe movement restrictions, bureaucratic ethnic cleansing and political manipulation and fostering of collaborators that Israel operates in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
In his introduction of the Power Point presentation, Ali Abunimah accurately concludes that after watching it one cannot evade the truth of the systematic and methodical purge of Palestine. He concisely explains what the document matter-of-factly shows, especially by its bureaucratic everydayness:
What does exist, and is plain for all the world to see, is a horrifying regime of totalitarian control of millions of Palestinians who remain prisoners of Israel's racist system and the army and settler militias that enforce it.
Yet even as realities like these present themselves to the public with a disturbing routineness, Zionist defenders of Apartheid Israel will nevertheless continue to shuck'n'jive, evading the issue. They find much greater solace in attacking critics of Apartheid, far preferring it to confronting reality.

George Galloway Questioned About Apartheid Israel's Savagery

Here on Uncle Sam's plantation, we don't have politicians who make appearances on television and speak the truth.

The Brits, on the other hand, have George Galloway. When interviewed by Rupert Murdoch's SKY TV, Galloway went on the warpath and, as he customarily does, embarrassed another shameless lackey.

George Galloway's Interesting Hypothetical

British RESPECT MP George Gallway has again sent shockwaves through the British bourgeois political establishment by reportedly telling GQ Magazine that a suicide attack that killed Tony Blair "would be morally justified.... And morally equivalent to ordering the deaths of thousands of innocent people in Iraq - as Blair did."

He added in the same interview that, "I am not calling for it - but if it happened it would be of a wholly different moral order to the events of July 7. It would be entirely logical and explicable."

It presents an interesting question to those on Sam's Plantation who support the prison gulags, the death penalty, or Apartheid Isreal's right to assassinate any Palestinian leader they choose. What makes the life of Tony Blair - a man Comrade Chavez called "an unconditional subordinate to the crazy man" - worth any more than someone like Fred Hampton, who the state can kill without batting an eye?

Why does Apartheid Israel have the right to kill anyone they want at any time without so much as arresting a person, but Galloway is taken to the woodshed for poiting out the moral relativism that plagues so many on the Plantation and in Europe?
