1097 Days of Murdering Iraqis

We have now entered the fourth year of Uncle Sam's brutal campaign of terror, torture, murder and destruction in Iraq.

Two recent stories underscore the racism and barbarity of this genocidal campaign on the part of the mercinaries, death squads, and GI Joes sent there by Uncle Sam to slaughter Iraqis.

The first, broken by Matthew Schofield of Knight-Ridder, reveals the existence of an on-the-record report leaked by officials within Iraq's collaborator police that implicating GI Joes in the execution of 11 civilians in the town of Balad "including a 75-year-old woman and a 6-month-old infant." Schofield adds that, "the report identified the dead by name, giving their ages. The two men killed were 22 and 28. Of the women, one was 22, another was 23, a third was 30 and the fourth was 75. Two of the children were 5 years old, two were 3, and the fifth was 6 months old, the document said."

The report notes that Uncle Sam's soldiers stormed the house, corralled the civilians into a single room, and executed them. They also burned three vehicles, killed the villagers' animals before detonating the house.

Highlighting a similar attack on innocent civilians, Tim McGirk broke an equally grotesque story this week in Time about a massacre that occurred in Haditha 4 months ago. On 19 November 2005, the Iraqi resistance attacked one of Sam's humvees with a roadside bomb, killing a soldier. One day later, the piece explains that the Marines released a fabricated statement that falsely reported that the blast killed 15 Iraqi civilians in addition to the GI Joe.

But civilians didn't die in the humvee attack. Citing eyewitness testimony, human rights reports, and video footage, McGirk reports that, "the civilians who died in Haditha on Nov. 19 were killed not by a roadside bomb but by the Marines themselves, who went on a rampage in the village after the attack, killing 15 unarmed Iraqis in their homes, including seven women and three children."

While these accounts do not routinely find their way into corporate media on Sam's Plantation, stories that detail the savagery of the military in Iraq are routine elsewhere. In addition to highlighting their daily attacks on Uncle Sam, the Iraqi Resistance Reports detail the attacks on civilians against Sunni academics, religious leaders, children, and women carried out by Death Squads trained by Uncle Sam.

Each of these independent reports underscores the hypocrisy and savagery of the occupation in Iraq while showcasing the chief aim and goal of the military's continued occupation: stealing Iraq's resources and killing anyone who refuses to consent to this theft. Attacks such as the ones noted above are carried out partially for revenge and partially for a demonstration effect.

But the truth about Iraq is that Uncle Sam has already lost, and it's now only a matter of time before Uncle Sam decides to Cut and Run.

Sam has lost in Iraq politically, amplifying the power and strength of Sadrists, Hizbullah, Hamas, Syria, and Iran.

Sam has lost economically. The war has yielded no positive results and has added $500,000,000,000 of additional debt to a nation already $9,000,000,000,000 in the hole.

And finaly, Sam has lost militarily. They may spend billions more intensify the air war and let their Interior Ministry Death Squads loose to terrorize the country, but Uncle Sam's military has been decimated by a guerrilla army using small arms, RPGs, mortar and rocket fire, and, of course, the ubiquitous IED.

But Sam won't Cut and Run because of a pro-Democrat 'antiwar' movement. Sam won't Cut and Run because stories like these appear in the pro-war media. Sam won't Cut and Run because the UN, the EU, or some other ruling class institution asks it to leave.

For one reason, and one reason only, Sam's GI Joe's will Cut and Run: the heroic Iraqi resistance will continue to make Uncle Sam bleed money and lives.
